Fullerton Arboretum Veggiepalooza

On March 16th and 17th the Arboretum will host Veggiepalooza, the annual monster tomato and pepper sale. Veggiepalooza is the largest plant sale in the region focusing exclusively on tomato and pepper plants. The sale features close to 300 varieties of tomatoes, peppers, and varietal veggies all geared toward the home gardener. Over 100 varieties of tomato plants will be for sale this year, including every size from cherry to beefsteak and every color from white to black. In addition, over 70 varieties of peppers will be available this year, including Jigsaw Pepper, Atomic Starfish Pepper, Giant Ristra Pepper, and Shishito Pepper. This year we are very excited to offer Glass Gem Corn, whose beautiful kernels shine brilliantly like glass. This decorative, edible, and delicious variety was bred from a Native variety by Carl “White Eagle” Barnes, the famous Cherokee corn collector. All the plants for this sale were carefully propagated and organically grown exclusively in the Arboretum nursery by skilled volunteers. Sale hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm both days and admission is free. Fullerton Arboretum members receive early admission on March 15th from 3-6pm and a 10% discount on all purchases. All proceeds from this fundraising event support plant conservation, environmental education programs, and the diverse gardens of the Fullerton Arboretum. http://fullertonarboretum.org/ps_veggiePalooza.php
