SUMMARY:Jazz Vespers on May 17 to Benefit the Fullerton Observer
DESCRIPTION:Interfaith Jazz Vespers to Feature Ron Kobayashi Trio and Vocalist Crystal Clulee\, a fundraiser for the Fullerton Observer Newspaper\nLive Oak United Church of Christ in Brea will host a special Jazz Vespers service\, showcasing the talents of the Ron Kobayashi Trio alongside guest vocalist Crystal Clulee. The event on Sunday\, May 17\, which begins at 6 pm\, is free to attend\, though donations will be accepted to support the Fullerton Observer Newspaper and future Jazz Vespers programs. \nThe Trio consists of composer and pianist Ron Kobayashi\, bassist Baba Elefante\, and drummer Steve Dixon\, all accomplished musicians in their own right. The Ron Kobayashi Trio was formed in 1994. The Trio has recorded a DVD and 4 CDs\, which have received airplay worldwide. \nCrystal Clulee is a professional vocalist and bandleader creating sophisticated live music experiences\, from intimate lounge performances to high-energy events and celebrations. Drawing from a wide range of styles with a soulful\, expressive approach — including jazz\, soul\, pop\, and classic songbook repertoire — Crystal curates music that enhances the atmosphere and connects authentically with every room. \nThe Fullerton Observer is a 48-year-old\, all-volunteer newspaper. Founded in 1978\, this paper is staffed entirely by volunteers and covers local news\, government\, and community stories. This all-volunteer newspaper thrives not on corporate funding but through the dedication of residents like you. Ultimately\, these interactions reaffirm the value of local journalism. \nThe longevity of the Fullerton Observer\, nearing half a century\, is a testament to the community’s belief in its mission to inform Fullerton residents about the institutions and other societal forces that most impact their lives\, so that they may be empowered to participate in constructive ways to keep and make these private and public entities serve all residents in lawful\, open\, just\, and socially responsible ways. \nThrough the local calendar and other coverage\, we seek to promote a sense of community and an appreciation for the values of diversity that our country is so uniquely blessed with.
