Our Sustainable Living Fair

Our Sustainable Living Fair takes place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday March 16 at the Brea Congregational Church, 300 E. Imperial Highway, Brea. Admission is free and there will be activities and presentations for all ages.

The event will be a mix of everyday tips on saving money and energy, plus panels and presentations for people who want to grow in their knowledge of climate and environmental risks, and perhaps get involved as advocates for prudent policy.  In addition to the discussions, there will be hands-on workshops, solar vendors, tabling by nonprofit orgs working on these issues, music, games, arts and crafts — including a giant albatross made from cigarette butts collected on beaches.

Our goal is to raise awareness, provide information, have fun, make friends and build relationships. Our schedule isn’t set yet and we’re adding elements all the time. Just today we heard from a chef who may be doing vegan cooking demos (we’re working out the details) and someone from Republic Services who will be on hand to provide the latest news on recycling and why there are so many limitations on what gets recycled these days. (It’s all about preventing waste these days because apparently recycling markets have been crashing).
