Junior Divers Compete in the First International Diving Competition in the US in 2024

Junior divers from around the world gathered during the Memorial Day weekend for one of the first international Junior diving invitationals in the US, held at the Marguerite Aquatics Center in Mission Viejo. The TYR Junior America’s Cup took place over four days, May 23-26, hosted by the Mission Viejo Nadadores, bringing junior divers together from Australia, Canada, Great Britain, France, Brazil, and USA Diving’s National team (Juniors). Junior Divers are divided into 3 age groups, Group A ( Ages 16-18), Group B (Ages 14-15), and Group C (Ages 12-13), to compete in the 1 meter, 3 meter, Platform, the Syncro 3 meter, and Syncro platform events.

The competition judges all have a passion for the sport of diving and are active in the community, such as Doe Krug, who has an Olympian daughter and has worked on the media team for every Diving Olympics since 1984. Both spectators and competitors expressed positive feedback for this first junior international diving invitational.

Christine Frohloff, traveling from Vancouver, mentioned, “We’re here cheering on Team Canada. The volunteers are so friendly. It’s a well-organized meet, with a beautiful pool and facilities, and we’re having a great time!”

Throughout the competition, you can sense the camaraderie among participants from different countries, not only to compete but also to share experiences and forge friendships driven by their passion for the sport.
