Day Of Music Historic Hillcrest Gathering
We unearthed a couple of pre-concert images of Hillcrest Park from 1969 when concerts at the bowl were sometimes spur of the moment and always momentous. You can see the stage and the cover here, and you can also see why the bowl was actually designed for music. It’s our own mini-Hollywood Bowl.
This news just came in from the City of Fullerton. They have given the green light to Bubba’s Big Bowl of Blues at the Bowl during the Day of Music on June 21st. Bubba has enticed a number of professional blues bands to join in, finally bringing live music back to the bowl. Just like back then, bring your picnic, beach towels or blankets, chairs, and coolers, and be cool. The 10-piece band Regatta opens up at 3pm; Bubba closes at 7pm. Hillcrest Park Big Bowl is located at 1200 N Harbor Blvd; turn on E Valley View towards N Lemon St.

Be You
The 3rd Annual Be You Pride Fest took place, and pride busted out all over Fullerton on Saturday, June 1st. The parade began about a mile away near the Route 66 store. That is the store on the corner of Wilshire and Raymond Avenues – what were you thinking?
People on bikes, skates, scooters, feet, wheelchairs, and a vintage Fire Truck headed west at about 1:30 and quickly arrived at the Downtown Plaza, which seems to have an event every few days now as the weather turns to perfection.
Kay Sedia (pictured at right in the center) made welcome announcements, which were followed by live entertainment in the early evening and after-parties at the Bowery, Bootleggers, and several homes nearby.
This yearly event has grown quickly, and the celebration has expanded, uniting people and bringing everyone together in a city that has slowly come to accept and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and their right to live with the same freedoms others take for granted.
New In Town: Anything Rustic
A fun new business had its grand opening on June 1st, just a block away from the Pride Fest. Anything Rustic vintage and eclectic goods at 138 W Wilshire is anything but an ordinary home decor store because it is fully stocked with a great variety of unique items. Taking it in was like taking a journey through the past.
Everything in the shop has a history behind it, and the rustic appearance that time has given them tells a story. You may imagine, as we did, how much fun it must be locating such items and finally being able to put them on sale in a busy part of our downtown.
The first day attracted quite a turnout, so the owners can look forward to many years of success, adding a much-needed retail shop that will attract more daytime shoppers to that block, along with the various shops in Villa del Sol and all along W Wilshire.
Shop Fullerton First, of course, because nowhere else will you be able to find such interesting items and people.

This time: There is some tomfoolery going on here, not Banksy, but mosaic graffiti. Where is this?
