Ann Elizabeth Sparks, 88, died May 27, 2024, at Park Vista in Fullerton. She is survived by her children, Cindy Sparks, Karen Stewart, Larry Sparks, and Jim Sparks, her brother Robert Brunskill, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Ann was born to Don and Elizabeth Brunskill in Fullerton on June 24, 1935.  She attended Fullerton High School before heading to UCLA, where she studied to be a teacher.  After college, she married Thomas Sparks, and they moved to La Habra to raise their four children.  Eventually, she started her long career as an elementary school teacher. After over four decades in the classroom, she retired at age 70 from Pacific Drive Elementary School in Fullerton.

Ann was a longtime member of P.E.O., a women’s organization whose primary focus is providing educational opportunities for female students.  She was not just a member but an active participant, serving in various leadership positions throughout her tenure. Her dedication to the organization’s mission was evident in her efforts to organize fundraisers, mentor young women, and advocate for educational equality.

Ann’s passion for books and reading was a source of joy in her life. She dedicated many years to volunteering at Friends of the Library in La Habra, sharing her love for literature with others. After living in La Habra for many years, she moved back to Fullerton, residing at Morningside.

Ann’s love for her family was a cornerstone of her life. She enjoyed traveling, going to Angels games with her daughters, playing bridge with friends, and spending quality time with her family.  Her sharp mind, dry humor, and generous heart endeared her to all who knew her. Her absence will be deeply felt by her loved ones and all who knew her.
