Vivian “Kitty” Jaramillo, a lifelong Fullerton resident, former city commissioner, longtime community volunteer, and public servant, is ready to take her leadership to the next level by serving on the City Council. We at WIL could not be more excited about supporting her candidacy.
Kitty attended Fullerton’s public schools, as did her two adult children.
She was the first non-sworn bilingual employee for the Fullerton Police Department before working in code enforcement, where she helped lead efforts to clean up the city, remove graffiti and blight, and keep residents safe.
Kitty’s time volunteering with local nonprofits and serving on city commissions left her feeling that her neighborhood did not have a voice on the City Council. So, she fought for by-district elections and is now ready to be the next representative of her South Fullerton community.
Her top three priorities on the council will be fixing street conditions, which she says are the complaints she hears most from residents, improving infrastructure and city maintenance in District 4, and ensuring more low-income housing is built in new and renovated residential properties.

Fun fact: From the ages of 14 to 18, Kitty was president of a service club that raised money to paint homes for the elderly. Because they were a group of Latina girls, everyone thought they were a gang, even though their mentor was a pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Anaheim. Kitty’s spirit of service and courage in the face of discrimination should inspire us all.
— Statement from Kitty Jaramillo
I am so grateful for WIL’s endorsement and honored for the faith your organization has in my candidacy. It is so important for women to stick together and advocate for each other. Women’s rights seem to be going back in time, which makes your support all the more important. If we women don’t stand for each other, who will? Thanks again for your faith in me, and I will make you proud by protecting women’s reproductive rights, including all other women’s healthcare issues.
When courageous women run for office to fight for the equality, freedom, and dignity that come with reproductive choice, WIL gets behind them early and supports them every step of the way.
