What is the OC Loop?
The Orange County (OC) Loop is a vision for 66 miles of seamless connections and an opportunity for people to bike, walk, and connect to some of California’s most scenic beaches and inland reaches. About 88% of the OC Loop is already in place and is used by thousands of people. Currently, nearly 58 miles use existing off-street trails along the San Gabriel River, Coyote Creek, Santa Ana River, and the Coastal/Beach Trail.
You can help complete the loop. Contact Peter Sutherland, Active Transportation Coordinator: (714) 560-5386 | psotherland@octa.net

Buena Park Trails
Silverado Trail
Walking and Cycling Pathway
The Silverado Trail is a mile-long pathway that starts at the intersection of Knott Avenue and Thelma Avenue and runs through the center of Buena Park (along the Southern California Edison Right of Way), connecting with an existing pathway at Valley View Street. Join the City Council at the opening ribbon cutting and enjoy a light stroll and refreshments.
The walking pathway includes a 12-foot-wide concrete path and an 8-foot-wide decomposed granite path, ideal for walking, running, biking, and so much more! The wide, flat, handicapped-accessible surface accommodates everyone regardless of age or physical ability.
This is Phase 1, as the City’s future plans include expanding the pathway eastward and adding amenities as funding becomes available. The $1.26 million walking pathway project was made possible by funding from the City’s Park-in-Lieu Fund, a grant from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC), and a grant from St. Jude Hospital.

La Habra
Bike trail connecting OC Loop to La Habra
The City has accrued about $5 million in grant funding since 2014, but the money sat idle as officials waited for the railroad to agree to sell the land. The project was given the green light back in March by the railroad, Plotnik said, pending a few modifications, including the installation of 8-foot-tall gates separating the train tracks from the bike trail, still to be finalized with approval from the railroad and the California Public Utilities Commission. The City will begin the process of turning the land into the Union Pacific right-of-way bikeway (name still to be determined), which will take at least three years, with a tentative Spring 2025 unveiling.
