Free Friday Night Concerts: Fullerton Night Live!

The City of Fullerton has initiated a fun and engaging new event! Known as “Fullerton Night Live,” these mini-concerts occur at generally unknown locations around the city, with artists representing all types of music from 50s to country. Fullerton residents can expect a fun time when they go. The evening was coupled with food trucks, live music and positive energy.

Fullerton Night Live has been hosted at a myriad of parks, such as Bastanchury Park and the Fullerton Sports Complex. The changes in scenery have been a new aspect of these nightly concerts this year to encourage residents to explore aspects of Fullerton that they maybe haven’t seen before. On Friday, September 20th, Fullerton’s Parks and Recreation department hosted the latest Fullerton Night Live at the Hunt Library. The band of the night, “The Dreamboats” performed at the entryway of the library. Fans got to surround them on the grasses around the place, bathed in the remnants of the stage light.

The Dreamboats is a start-up band from Canada that moved down to California, specializing in covers of popular music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s era. They performed many fan favorites, such as Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog” and “Heartbreak Hotel.” The group performed almost nonstop for two hours, and had the crowd singing and dancing along almost the whole time.

This was quite the event for the entire family. The library’s grounds were filled with families of all ages, as well as their pooches! The set-up was casual: families spread out on foldable chairs and picnic blankets. Many people brought wine, cheese and other snacks while enjoying the sweet sounds of live music. Others enjoyed food from various food trucks that had been invited, such as Italiano’s, Crepes Bonaparte and others from some restaurant favorites around the city.

If you’re looking for a new way to spend your Friday nights, Fullerton Night Live continues its weekly entertainment until early October!
