A Fullerton resident contacted the Observer to report that fire crews, police, and helicopters were near the Fullerton Municipal Airport.
Fullerton Police Department Public Information Officer Kristy Wells confirmed that it was due to a plane crash that happened at 2:09pm, on Thursday, January 2. She told the Observer that at that time 11 people were involved in the plane crash, and no deaths were yet reported.
The Fullerton Police Department reported the crash and indicated that evacuations were underway. Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area, as multiple roads surrounding the crash site had been closed to facilitate emergency operations. As investigations continued, the total number of injuries from Thursday’s crash remained unclear.
The small plane crashed through the roof of a warehouse at the edge of the airport at the 2300 block of Raymer Ave setting off a 4-alarm fire and injuring 19 workers inside. An ABC report announced that two (the pilot of the RV-10 and his 16-year-old daughter) had died in the crash.
A full report will be released soon.
