Marlys Davidson Joins NOCROP Board of Trustees

The North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (NOCROP) has officially welcomed Marlys Davidson as its newest Board of Trustees member. Davidson brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to education, having previously served on the Los Alamitos Unified School District Board since 2018.

Davidson’s educational journey has been deeply rooted in the Los Alamitos community, where she began as an advocate for educational excellence and community improvement. During her tenure on the school board, she has focused on nurturing a productive environment for students and promoting active involvement from all community stakeholders. Her collaborative approach and dedication to shared values have significantly shaped her leadership style.

Having grown up in the area, Davidson returned with her husband, Stan, in 1980 to raise their children, Stephanie and Casey. The couple has played active roles in various organizations, including the PTA, School Site Council, youth sports, and Scouts, exemplifying their commitment to fostering a vibrant community.

With 25 years of teaching experience at both elementary and secondary levels in Los Alamitos, Davidson has positively influenced numerous students. Her dedication was recognized in 2010 when she was named the district’s Teacher of the Year. Beyond the classroom, she has contributed to the education sector by developing Common Core Language Arts units and designing professional development programs for fellow educators.

After retiring in 2016, Davidson continued to lend her expertise as an education consultant, collaborating with educators, parents, and community members. Her belief that progress relies on collective input emphasizes her vision for inclusive educational advancement.

As a member of NOCROP, Davidson aims to build on the organization’s existing achievements in creating career-ready communities through career technical education. She prioritizes open communication and looks forward to engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders, including parents, students, and educators, to further enhance the educational landscape.

The NOCROP community is eager to embrace Davidson’s experience and passion for education, anticipating the positive impact she will have on the organization and the broader community.
