Wilshire Ave Church Celebrates 132 Years

Wilshire Ave Church celebrated 132 years of loving God, serving the community, and building meaningful relationships. The celebration reflected on the church’s long history of impact and looked forward with excitement to what lies ahead.

“It is so great to celebrate 132 years of ministry and all that God has done. And I truly believe the best is yet to come,” Pastor Rob Burke, the lead pastor, shared during the event.

Loving the Community

The heart of Wilshire Ave has always been to love the community and give back to those in need. Its food bank serves local families, providing meals and support during challenging times.

Programs like the church’s after-school care and preschool help meet the needs of children and working parents, offering a safe and nurturing environment. Wilshire Ave also organizes soccer and basketball leagues for the community, where kids can build teamwork, develop character, and form lasting friendships.

“Wilshire is a central hub for our whole family,” said Haley Struckhoff, a church member, “It provides for so many needs in the community.”

Pastor Bryan, who has been on staff for over 25 years, said, “It is so great to be part of a church family that has such a long legacy of loving the community and caring for people so well.”

Growing young while embracing a rich history

The church offers kids programs on Sunday mornings during the 9am traditional service and the 10:30am contemporary service. It engages children up to junior high with lessons and activities that help them grow in faith and build community.
The church recently opened a brand-new student center for high school and junior high students, creating a welcoming space where young people can connect, grow, and thrive. Wilshire continues to live out its vision of “growing young” while honoring the legacy of its 132 years of ministry by focusing on children, students, and families.

As Wilshire Ave celebrates its past and embraces the future, there is a deep gratitude for what God has done and faith in what He will continue to do. The best is truly yet to come!

Wilshire Ave Church is located at 212 East Wilshire Ave, Fullerton.
