The Fullerton Certified Farmers’ Market is recognized as the oldest farmers’ market in Orange County and offers a variety of fresh produce, including fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey, plants, orchids, nuts, and bread. It is operated by the nonprofit Fullerton Certified Farmers’ Market Board and has developed a following based on the quality of its products.
Farmers and vendors travel from various locations, including Brawley to the south and Fresno to the north, to supply the Fullerton community. This commitment has fostered relationships between the vendors and their customers, with many individuals returning regularly.
Since its establishment in August 1981 at the old Ford School property — now Ford Park — the market has undergone several relocations due to its growth and popularity. After three years at Ford Park, it moved to Woodcrest Park in 1984, where it remained until 2007. The market then spent time at Independence Park, managed by Jimmy Moreno and his family, known for their focus on selling oranges.
Moreno expressed a preference for Independence Park, citing its visibility from the street and ample parking as beneficial for the market’s operations.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the market temporarily relocated to the parking lot of the Fullerton Public Library. This was intended as a short-term arrangement, with plans for the market to move to the Fullerton Community Center once the library fully reopened.
On July 7, 2021, the market officially transitioned to the parking lot at the Community Center, although this change has resulted in some reports of reduced market size due to lower visibility.
As the Fullerton Farmers’ Market continues to adapt to the challenges, it remains a cherished tradition and vital resource for the community, celebrating fresh, local produce and fostering connections among residents.
Open Wednesdays – 8:30 am- 12:30 pm.
