Fullerton Police Department Announces Citizen’s Academy Starting March

The Fullerton Police Department (FPD) announces the upcoming Citizen’s Academy, set to begin on March 12.

The academy offers an opportunity to learn about the operations of the police department. This 10-week course provides insight into various aspects of police work in the community. Participants will gain an understanding of the department’s structure, community service efforts, and the responses of personnel when assistance is requested.

This course is designed not to train individuals as police officers but to foster communication between the community and law enforcement. Instructors will include members from different department levels, including the Police Chief, Police Captains, Bureau Commanders, Patrol Officers, Detectives, Dispatchers, and other staff members.

Participants are encouraged to ask questions and engage in discussions relevant to the topics covered. Each participant will also be able to ride with a patrol officer. Classes will be held on Wednesday nights from 6pm to 9pm. Interested individuals are encouraged to sign up.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Residency, employment, or school enrollment in Fullerton
  • Age minimum of 21 years
  • No outstanding warrants, pending criminal cases, or felony convictions

Applications can be obtained at the front desk during business hours.
