Celebration of Life for Marion ‘Mimi’ Maginnis Set for March 1

Marion ‘Mimi’ Maginnis, a beloved member of the Fullerton community, passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 92. Born Marion Bowman in 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, Mimi was the youngest of four children, growing up with three older brothers. She pursued her education at Goucher College in Baltimore, where she earned a degree in communications.

Mimi’s journey took a significant turn during her time working at a summer camp in Baltimore, where she met her future husband, Bill Maginnis. Known for his affectionate nickname for her, ‘the girl with the big smile,’ Bill and Mimi went on to marry and raised their family across several states, including Indiana and Arizona, before settling in Fullerton. They welcomed four children: Marcie, Stuart, Patty, and Scott.

After a fulfilling career as a school counselor, Mimi and Bill retired in 1990. This new chapter of their lives was marked by a passion for travel—exploring the world and frequently visiting their home in Baja, California, where they volunteered at the Door of Faith Orphanage. Mimi was known for her love of travel, singing, and dancing, but her greatest joy came from connecting with people. Her warm and inviting nature allowed her to cultivate a large circle of friends.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Mimi Maginnis will take place on Saturday, March 1, from 11 AM to 1:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton. Community members are encouraged to attend and share memories of a woman who left a lasting impact on many lives.
