Over 100 aspiring softball stars took to the fields Saturday, February 16 for the highly anticipated inaugural Fullerton Union High School Youth Softball Camp. The three-hour free camp was hosted by the Fullerton High School Softball Program.

The energy was electric as campers of all skill levels ages 6 through 14, from beginners to seasoned players, honed their skills under the guidance of experienced coaches and local high school athletes.

The camp focused on developing fundamental skills, including hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running. Campers participated in a variety of drills, from batting practice in the cages to live hitting. Beyond the technical aspects of the game, one station also emphasized age-appropriate mental training, including the importance of a positive attitude, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

“It’s amazing to see so many young athletes excited about softball,” said one local parent. “We focused on creating a fun and supportive environment where everyone could learn and grow, regardless of their experience level,” said head coach Trevor Holton.

The camp wasn’t just about drills and skills; it was also about building camaraderie and fostering a love for the game. Campers made new friends, cheered each other on, and celebrated successes both big and small.

The camp also boasted a fully-stocked snack bar featuring mini pancakes and breakfast burritos in the morning with chicken and carne asada tacos and quesadillas made to order at lunch. Attendees also had the opportunity to purchase Fullerton High School Tribe Softball merchandise and were given the opportunity to join The Tribe, the membership includes a limited edition The Tribe t-shirt and special seating at all home games, plus the opportunity to be a ball girl at an upcoming home game.

The overwhelming success of the camp is a testament to the growing interest in softball within the community. Organizers are already looking forward to next year’s camp and hope to make it even bigger and better. A huge thank you goes out to all the coaches, volunteers, athletes, and sponsors who made this incredible event possible!
