A tragic traffic collision early Saturday morning has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left several others injured. The incident occurred on April 12, 2025, at approximately 6:48 AM at the intersection of E. Orangethorpe Ave and S. State College Blvd.
According to Fullerton Police, a gray 1991 Toyota Pick-Up and a white 2018 Tesla Model 3 were involved in the crash, along with an Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) bus. Officers arriving at the scene discovered the Toyota with moderate damage on its passenger side, while the Tesla had significant front-end damage in the intersection. The OCTA bus sustained moderate damage to its driver’s side.
Emergency responders from Fullerton Fire transported the adult male driver of the Tesla to a local trauma center, where he was later pronounced dead. Tragically, an adult female passenger in the Tesla was pronounced deceased at the scene. The drivers of the Toyota and the OCTA bus remained at the site and are cooperating with investigators. Additionally, five passengers from the bus were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Tesla was traveling westbound on E. Orangethorpe Ave when it reportedly ran a red light, colliding with the passenger side of the Toyota before striking the OCTA bus. Authorities have not yet determined if alcohol or drugs were factors in the driver’s actions.
The identities of the deceased individuals have not been released pending notification from the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
