Hosted by Indivisible CA 40, a local advocacy organization, a community event is set to take place focusing on the importance of preserving Constitutional rights in the current political climate. The rally aims to provide a welcoming and non-violent space for participants to express their commitment to peaceful assembly and protest against what many perceive as rising fascism.
Organizers emphasize the need for solidarity, encouraging attendees to engage positively with one another. Participants are urged to acknowledge their presence, reach out to neighbors, and foster new connections by exchanging contact information. “I’m here for you,” is the rallying cry aimed at promoting unity among attendees.
Safety is a primary concern for organizers. They have issued clear guidelines advocating for personal responsibility regarding hydration, sun protection, and mobility needs. In the event of a conflict with detractors, participants are instructed to ignore provocations and maintain focus on the peaceful nature of the event. “You are 100% responsible for your own safety,” the organizers remind attendees.
The event will take place on public property, where participants are advised to avoid obstructing traffic and to comply with all laws. Attendees have been encouraged to express gratitude to volunteers and law enforcement present at the rally, reinforcing a spirit of community support.
In addition to the rally, organizers are urging participants to commit to continued activism beyond the event. Attendees are encouraged to make five calls to elected representatives through 5Calls.org and to participate in another protest within the next month.
Facilities accessible to participants include dedicated parking spots, flat ground for ease of mobility, and nearby restrooms at local businesses, which may require patronage for access.
As the event approaches, the organizers express excitement for the community’s turnout and future activism, reminding all participants of their collective strength and responsibility.
Join Indivisible CA40 for a community-building, welcoming, non-violent event to stand up for our Constitutional rights in the face of fascism — including our right to peaceful assembly and protest.
As we grow our movement, we will unfortunately attract those who want to manipulate, bait, or trick you into engagement; this will not benefit you or the group. There will be NO ENGAGEMENT with detractors. Ignore, step back, walk away, film/record if necessary. You are 100% responsible for your own safety, including hydration, sunscreen, mobility, and other needs. Dial 911 in case of an emergency of any kind.
If you can agree to the following, we can’t wait to see you! If you can’t agree, please find another place to participate this day.
- Acknowledge yourself for being here – thank you for joining the resistance!
- Reach out and look at your neighbor and say “I’m here for you.” Make at least one new friend and exchange contact info if you feel like it.
- Hold your (optional) sign high and recognize that people will honk, wave, and support you. Smile & wave back but do NOT engage with or speak to or yell at detractors. If you hear, see, or sense that anyone is there for “bad trouble” you commit to IGNORE, STEP BACK, WALK AWAY and possibly FILM/RECORD for your safety.
- Stay on public property; do not obstruct traffic; obey all laws.
- Thank those who are here to support you, especially volunteers, the police and community services people.
- Pick up your trash, leave the city better than you found it, and visit the local restaurants and shops in support of this town after the protest.
- Commit to making your 5 calls this week (5Calls.org) and participating in another protest in the next 30 days.
See you there!
