North Orange County ROP honors Michele Schirmers at retirement ceremony

This document recognizes the retirement of Michele Schirmers, a long-serving member of North Orange County ROP. Michele has completed 19 years of service, marking a significant milestone in her career with the organization.

Michele began her tenure with NOCROP in 2005, starting with a part-time position in a local PennySaver. Her résumé highlighted her as tenacious, unafraid of challenges, and customer service oriented—qualities that have characterized her performance throughout her career. She has held positions in nearly every department, excluding Fiscal Services, and has contributed her institutional knowledge and problem-solving skills consistently.

One notable aspect of Michele’s work is her involvement with the Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA), where she ensured that instructors and students had the necessary tools and materials. She also played a key role in supporting Summer School programs by coordinating resources and logistics effectively across multiple sites.

Michele focused on achieving results rather than seeking recognition. She trained new staff, mentored colleagues, and developed systems that enhanced the organization’s operations. Her leadership style emphasized service, and she consistently demonstrated dedication and a calm approach.

In addition to her professional contributions, Michele fostered community engagement and connection. She participated in events such as the Pink Army breast cancer walk and organized activities to strengthen staff relations. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing people, especially students, in the organization’s work.

Michele’s retirement is acknowledged not only for her professional accomplishments but also for the positive influence she had on colleagues, students, and the organizational culture. Her legacy will be reflected in the systems she improved and the collaborative environment she nurtured.
