Electric Company Theatre Presents In The Heights June 3-25

In

The Heights, by award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes, tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood: a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures.

Co-directed by Co-Artistic Directors Brian and Callie Johnson with music direction by Gabrielle Maldonado and choreography by Mercy Thornton, the musical will be performed in the amphitheater at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center. In ECT’s signature style, the experience will immerse the audience as the story unfolds around them in the amphitheater, creating an intimate experience with a musical not often performed outdoors.  Picnics are welcome as each night before the performance will feature a pre-show mini-concert by a local Latine singer-songwriter at 6:45.

The cast includes Daniel Anthony Anzures (ensemble), Karol Avila Pineda (ensemble), Magaly Becerra (Daniela), Logan Cabieles (Piragua), Wesley Chavez (Usnavi), Elijah Samuél Figueroa (ensemble), Carlos Flores (ensemble), Gisela Flores (ensemble), Darius Aaron Frye (Graffiti Pete), Gavin Hamze (ensemble), Miles Henry (Benny), Juan Iñiguez (Sonny), Sarah Ledesma (Vanessa), Jared Lindsay (ensemble), Shayanne Marin (Camila), Niko Montelibano (ensemble), Aimee Ordaz (ensemble), Juliet Parker (ensemble), Melissa Ramos (ensemble), Ayrin Reed (ensemble), Analia Romero (Abuela Claudia), Erick Sanchez (ensemble), Jocelyn Thalia Sanchez (ensemble), Xitlali Sanchez (ensemble), Emily Taylor (ensemble), Mercy Thornton (Nina), Mark Torres (Kevin), Alyssa Ultreras (ensemble), and Camille Vargas (ensemble).

The creative team includes costume design by Adam Ramirez, lighting design by Matt Mankiewicz, and stage management by Jordan Jones.

In The Heights will be performed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at 7:30pm, in the amphitheater at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center: 1201 W Malvern Ave, Fullerton CA 92833. Tickets are available for purchase for $35 plus fees at electriccompanytheatre.org. The show contains some language and innuendo.
