Every senior is someone’s grandparent, parent, sibling, friend, or loved one. At Seniors Fight Back, we believe every elder deserves to feel safe, strong, and supported. That’s why we offer free self-defense classes designed specifically for seniors—to help them build confidence, sharpen awareness, and, when necessary, defend themselves.
Seniors Fight Back was founded in May 2021 in response to a heartbreaking surge in attacks against seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, our 100% volunteer-run nonprofit has provided tools, training, and peace of mind to nearly 10,000 members of the community—and we were honored to be named Nonprofit of the Year by the California State Legislature.
Our classes are led by professional Muay Thai fighter Ron Scolesdang, who brings over 20 years of experience in self-defense. The sessions focus first and foremost on prevention and awareness—including how to read body language, use your voice effectively, and stay alert in various situations. Only if a threat becomes unavoidable do we introduce physical techniques, such as the clinch, elbow, and knee.
Every participant leaves class with more than just knowledge—they also receive a complimentary personal safety alarm to keep them safe on the go.
Let’s continue to protect the pillars of our communities. Help us spread the word, get involved, or bring a senior you love to a class. Together, we can fight back—with strength, dignity, and unity.
