The Fullerton Certified Farmers’ Market, recognized as the oldest farmers’ market in Orange County, has returned to Independence Park starting, providing locals access to a diverse range of fresh produce and local goods. Established in August 1981 at the old Ford School site, the market has seen several relocations due to its growing popularity and commitment to quality.
Managed by the Fullerton Certified Farmers’ Market Board, the market offers an impressive selection of fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey, nuts, and baked goods. Farmers and vendors from regions as far south as Brawley and as far north as Fresno travel to serve the Fullerton community, creating strong bonds with regular customers who appreciate the freshness and quality of the products on offer.
After three years at Ford Park, the market moved to Woodcrest Park in 1984, where it thrived for over two decades until relocating to Independence Park in 2017 and then the parking lot of the Fullerton Public Library during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most recently, the market had been operating out of the Fullerton Community Center, but reports suggested that reduced visibility impacted vendor participation and many long time vendors left.
Jimmy Moreno, a long-standing vendor and the market’s manager known for his oranges and avocados, expressed his belief that Independence Park’s better visibility and ample parking will revitalize the market’s operations.
“Independence Park has always felt like home for our market. It’s a place that supports our growth,” Moreno stated.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for every Wednesday. This new chapter at Independence Park continues to celebrate fresh, local produce and strengthen community ties.
As the Fullerton Farmers’ Market adapts to Independence Park, it remains a beloved fixture that fosters connections among residents while providing a vital resource for fresh, locally-sourced foods.
Open Wednesdays – 8:30 am- 12:30 pm.
Independence Park, 801 W Valencia Dr, Fullerton, CA
