Citizens, from diverse backgrounds, united to communicate a powerful message—democracy belongs to all the people, not to any one individual or ideology. The residents of Orange County are determined to maintain their rights and freedoms while advocating for those who feel threatened by federal actions and policies associated with the Trump/Vance administration.

“We need a country that values its people, workers, environment, and taxpayer-funded agencies,” stated one protester, reflecting the sentiments of many present. 

Approximately 300 demonstrators gathered at 10am on October 18 at the intersection of Imperial and Beach Boulevard in La Habra, voicing their concerns over the current administration’s policy and actions. By 11 am nearly 1,500 protestors had shown up to participate, and organizers counted 3500 participants by the end. This local protest is part of a larger wave of 2700 peaceful demonstrations across Orange County and the nation. Preliminary attendance counts of over 7 million participants across the U.S. signals a strong demand for change.

The demonstrators are calling for accountability from every Republican in the White House and Congress, urging them to acknowledge their complicity in what they term President Donald Trump’s detrimental policies that undermine essential services and programs. “We all deserve safety,” remarked a protester. “It is my patriotic duty and constitutional right to protest against an administration that is unjust,” said another protestor. As protests continue to grow, the message resonates: a united front against what is viewed as rising threats to American democracy and values. 

The spirit of the event was acknowledged by passerby with honking and peace signs. One unhappy incident occurred when a participant succumbed to the heat and passed out. La Habra Fire Department came to her rescue – she was transported to the hospital for stitches and is recovering.
