As Starbucks faces mounting pressure to reach a fair contract with its unionized baristas, college students across the nation, including those at California State University, Fullerton, are intensifying their efforts to sever ties with the coffee giant on campus.
The upcoming town hall meeting taking place at the Becker Amphitheater, scheduled for October 29 at 3 to 5 pm, aims to mobilize students in response to Starbucks’ reluctance to negotiate in good faith with its workers.
The event will feature local union baristas from Starbucks, alongside representatives from the United Auto Workers, CFA Fullerton, and Fullerton Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Attendees will discuss strategies for escalating their campaign, which could involve a series of major public actions aimed at holding Starbucks accountable.
The growing discontent among the student body reflects a broader movement advocating for fair labor practices, highlighting the urgent need for corporate responsibility in negotiations with workers. As students prepare to make their voices heard, the outcome of these discussions may significantly impact the presence of Starbucks on campus.
