SoCal Edison crews are searching for the source of a widespread power outage that began around 9:30am Wednesday morning December 10 affecting over 1,500 residences and businesses surrounding Harbor Blvd.
The process involves multiple testing of the system which will cause power to come on and then go back off. This is expected to continue through at least 4pm though no firm time for power restoration has been set
SoCal Edison website advises customers to “Switch off the lights (except one). You can help prevent damage by unplugging computers, stereos, televisions, air conditioners, and other large appliances.”
Traffic lights were not operating as a result of the outage causing congestion on Harbor as drivers took turns to cross intersections. Power was restored to many by 4pm. According to the most recent update “Equipment Problems” caused the outage and “repair crew is on the way.” Estimated power restoration to the 27 customers in the immediate area of the equipment problem is estimated by 6am tomorrow (Thursday, Dec 11).
