Happy Jewelers Hosts Fullerton Youth for Career Exploration

Students learning all about what goes into building an engagement ring alongside Gabe Arik

Happy Jewelers, a family-owned business, opened its doors to students from the Fullerton Boys & Girls Club this month to promote interest in careers in the jewelry industry.*

Co-owners Gabe and Danny Arik provided an educational experience that included hands-on training in diamond evaluation and engagement ring design. This initiative aimed to show students the possibilities for careers within their community.

During the visit, students learned about the full design and production processes. They observed how sketches become computer-aided designs (CAD), how stones are selected and set, and how craftsmanship plays a crucial role in creating custom pieces.

“Our goal was to show that the jewelry industry is about more than just selling products,” Gabe Arik stated. “It involves relationships, design, and skill.”

Students also had the opportunity to try on some of Happy Jewelers’ custom pieces worn by professional athletes, linking local craftsmanship to a broader audience. “Seeing these pieces helps students envision what’s achievable,” Danny Arik said.

Brett Ackerman, CEO of the Fullerton Boys & Girls Club, expressed gratitude for the mentorship provided by Happy Jewelers. “Opening their doors to kids in the community is commendable,” he said. “We need more initiatives like this.”

The Ariks emphasized that curiosity and hard work are essential for success in the jewelry industry. “If we can inspire even one student to pursue a career in this field, that’s our success,” Gabe noted.

Happy Jewelers plans to continue engaging with local youth through educational programs and mentorship opportunities, hoping to inspire future designers and entrepreneurs in the jewelry sector.
