In a precautionary move, the City of Fullerton has announced the cancellation of this year’s First Night celebration, originally scheduled for New Year’s Eve. This decision follows forecasts predicting rain and high winds, which raised significant public safety and operational concerns regarding attractions, entertainment, and the traditional fireworks display.
City officials expressed their regret over the cancellation, acknowledging the disappointment felt by the community. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we prioritize safety during these unpredictable weather conditions,” a representative stated.
The City of Fullerton looks forward to hosting future events under more favorable circumstances and encourages residents to participate in upcoming celebrations when conditions allow.

Too bad about cancellation of the annual celebration – but good for the other things short of funding like homeless cold weather shelter and help for residents targeted by ICE that we could use the money for.
If anyone needs to find a place to celebrate tonight, John’s Incredible Pizza Company in Buena Park has a New Year’s Eve Dance Party from 7pm-1am and it’s indoors thankfully. Stay safe everyone and Happy New Year!
