Indivisible CA-45 Maintains Weekly Protest Against ICE and Project 2025

Indivisible CA-45, a grassroots organization based in Fullerton, continues to make its presence felt every Monday, gathering to protest the Trump Administration’s policies, particularly Project 2025. The 46th demonstration took place on January 12, 2026, drawing a determined group of activists committed to progressive change.

Founded in response to Donald Trump’s first presidency, Indivisible CA-45 has grown from a small assembly into a movement with over 1,000 members since its inception in 2017. According to Deborah Langenbacher, PhD, a founding member, the organization initially aimed to unseat Congressman Ed Royce in California’s 39th congressional district, successfully achieving this goal with the election of Democrat Gil Cisneros in 2018, largely due to the group’s persistent grassroots efforts.

The political landscape shifted after the 2020 election and subsequent redistricting, resulting in the transformation of California’s 39th district into the newly designated 45th district. This change saw Congressman Michelle Steel replace Royce, but she faced a strong challenge from Derek Tran, a candidate supported by Indivisible CA-45, who won the closely contested 2024 election.

With Tran now in office, Indivisible CA-45 is focusing on addressing the multifaceted concerns outlined in Project 2025. The organization is committed to enhancing community engagement, fostering support for marginalized populations—including immigrants—and advocating for independent journalism. Their activism agenda covers pivotal issues such as immigration reform, LGBTQ+ rights, services for children and individuals with disabilities, and combating racism.

In a strategic meeting held in January 2025, group members outlined their local priorities, emphasizing the protection of public benefits such as Social Security, Medicaid/Medicare, education, and libraries. They are also dedicated to building a productive relationship with Congressman Derek Tran and his staff, which includes monitoring his legislative votes and facilitating regular meetings and town halls.

By collaborating with other like-minded organizations, Indivisible CA-45 aims to strengthen its advocacy efforts, defend democratic principles, and address the pressing issues affecting local communities.

Residents interested in joining the weekly protests are encouraged to participate every Monday from 5 to 6:30 pm at State College & Imperial in Brea, CA. More information can be found at indivisibleca45.org or on social media platforms Facebook and Bluesky.
