ICE Out for Good” Protest Scheduled in San Juan Capistrano Amid Local Concerns Over Immigration Raids

Organizers are gearing up for a significant protest this Friday, January 30, 2026, in San Juan Capistrano, where concerned residents of South Orange County will rally to voice their opposition to immigration enforcement tactics utilized by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The peaceful demonstration, titled “ICE Out for Good,” is set for 2:30 PM at the intersection of Camino Capistrano and Del Obispo.

The event, organized by the Democratic Women of South Orange County (DWSOC) and Indivisible San Juan Capistrano, seeks to support local families and workers affected by ICE raids while demanding greater accountability from immigration authorities. Organizers emphasize the importance of fostering solidarity with communities targeted by enforcement actions and advocating for due process and fundamental rights.

In recent months, immigration enforcement practices in Orange County have drawn heightened scrutiny, with reports indicating that ICE operations have increasingly targeted individuals in everyday situations, prompting a wave of community protests. Leaders from DWSOC highlighted a worrying trend: a sharp increase in deportations over the past year, which has fostered a climate of fear within immigrant communities that extends into schools, workplaces, and small businesses.

“People in South Orange County are coming together to protest ICE operating like a paramilitary unit: masked, armed, and unaccountable,” said Kim Anderson, Co-President of DWSOC. “We object to the violent and reckless conduct of ICE agents firing weapons, using tear gas near children, and physically assaulting individuals in public spaces. We see what is happening, and we will not look away.”

In keeping with a tradition of peaceful protest in Orange County, the January 30 event will feature nonviolent demonstrations, including “linking arms” and creating a human chain to symbolize unity and peaceful resistance. A coalition of local groups, including the Laguna Beach Democratic Club and Canyon Dems, has rallied around this cause, recognizing the perceived threat to democratic values posed by current government actions.

Anderson encourages attendees to prioritize a calm demeanor during the event. “We’re asking people to show up peacefully, hold signs, and stand together so families who feel hunted know they are not alone,” she stated.

The gathering will center at the designated intersection, with organizers urging participants to adhere to local laws and directions to ensure the safety of all involved.
