Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fullerton will host Cabaret for Reproductive Justice on March 22 and 23

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fullerton will host a Cabaret for Reproductive Justice featuring music and two original plays as a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood.  Local playwrights Chance Vernon and Christina Garner will debut two theater pieces at the event and be joined by talented musicians from the congregation.  The first play, “Annunciation”, is an authentic glimpse of women’s reactions to the results of their pregnancy tests at a free clinic in the 1980’s. The second play, “Ladies’ Night at Pippi’s Place,” is an irreverent comedy featuring a host of female archetypes gathered at the Spring Equinox to reflect on the joys and sorrows of motherhood.

Since the Supreme Court Dobbs decision in 2022, UUCF’s Social Action Committee has included reproductive justice as one of its many forms of community outreach.  The congregation has raised over $12,000 to support travel expenses for women needing reproductive health care unavailable in their home state.

Tickets for the event can be purchased on the UUCF website at www.uufullerton.org for $20.22.  The plays feature mature content and are not appropriate for youth under 16.  The performances will occur at First Christian Church, 109 East Wilshire Ave in downtown Fullerton.  Parking is available in the public lot across the street from the sanctuary on the corner of Harbor and Wilshire.  The shows begin at 8 pm on March 22 and at 7pm on March 23.
