Tempesta di Mare Brings Classical Music to Wilshire Auditorium

On Sunday February 17th at 3:30pm at the Wilshire Auditorium in downtown Fullerton, Fullerton Friends of Music will present the Tempesta di Mare Chamber Players in a free concert.

Fanfare magazine recently hailed Tempesta di Mare for its “abundant energy, immaculate ensemble, and undeniable sense of purpose.” In a marketplace dominated by European ensembles, Tempesta is the only American baroque music group to record for the prestigious British label Chandos. They have performed for the Frick Collection, the National Gallery of Art, the Miami Bach Festival, the Oregon Bach Festival, Abbey Bach Festival, Whitman College, Cornell Concerts and the Yale Collection.

The ensemble includes, Gwyn Roberts (flute), Rebecca Harris (violin), Lisa Terry (viola de gamba), Richard Stone (theorbo), and Adam Pearl (harpsichord). They will perform Holiday in Paris: Teleman’s musical vacation. In 1737 Teleman fulfilled a lifelong dream and traveled to Paris for an eight-month sojourn. Holiday in Paris recreates this magical time with music by Teleman and by the performers/composers for whom Teleman wrote: Blavet, Guignon and Forqueray.
