Celebrating Día De Los Muertos in Fullerton

To celebrate the traditional Mexican holiday of Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Fullerton residents can enjoy two events in town, at Fullerton College and The Muckenthaler Cultural Center.

Fullerton College: October 24

On Thursday, October 24 from 6-9pm in the campus quad, The Fullerton College Ethnic Studies Department invites the campus community to this annual celebration of Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). This cultural holiday is widely celebrated in Mexico and the American Southwest and the purpose is to venerate deceased loved ones through displays (altares) that honor the lives of the deceased. Free.

The Muckenthaler Cultural Center: November 3

On Sunday, November 3, visit the Muckenthaler Cultural Center to celebrate Día de los Muertos! There will be festive activities for the whole family, live music, local artisans, and arts and crafts for kids. Free.

Ofrendas, or altars, are at the cornerstone of a Día de los Muertos celebration. Each altar is decorated lavishly to represent and honor the life of a passed loved one. If you’re interested in honoring a loved one with an ofrenda at our Día de los Muertos celebration, please call 714-738-6595 or email info@themuck.org.
