It’s hard to believe that it’s already been two years since the Dobbs decision by the US Supreme Court, a decision that has had a profound impact on reproductive rights. This decision eliminated Roe, which had made abortion legal for nearly fifty years and has led to 21 states ending or severely restricting access to abortion care. Women are dying, young girls are forced to give birth, and the lives of women have been severely disrupted over these past two years. Fortunately, California continues to provide safe and legal abortion services, and this has been codified in our State Constitution with Proposition 1 from 2022. Many women have traveled to California to receive the health care they deserve but cannot get it in their state.
Indivisible CA-45 hosted a rally for reproductive justice on June 21 at the corner of Imperial Hwy and State College Blvd in Brea. This was not just a gathering but a crucial opportunity for us to make our voices heard, to show that we stand in solidarity with women’s rights to health care, and to control their own bodies. About 30 people – with signs, posters, and enthusiasm – were in attendance. This was part of a larger nationwide campaign by Indivisible to support the rights of women and to commemorate the anniversary of the Dobbs decision of 2022.
