Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva’s Statement on Plea Agreement and Resignation of Andrew Do

Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (D-Fullerton) released the following statement after Andrew Do resigned from Orange County Board of Supervisors as a part of a guilty plea deal for his involvement in the misuse of public funds.

“I am outraged by the details of Supervisor Andrew Do’s plea agreement. At a time when the Governor and Legislature are working together to pass some of the toughest bipartisan laws to crack down on retail theft in California’s history, we cannot then simply overlook the actions, or defer the consequences, of those who took public funds for personal enrichment.

“Taxpayer dollars meant to provide meals for our seniors, some of the most vulnerable among us, were instead funneled into personal gain. That is not just wrong, it is unconscionable.

“Every person who had a hand in this, from the official who abused their power to the family members who benefited, must be held accountable. Justice cannot be selective. We cannot have one set of rules for those in power, and another for everyone else. The people of Orange County deserve better. We must ensure that justice is served.”

Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva represents the 67th Assembly District, which includes the Orange County communities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, and La Palma, as well as the Los Angeles County communities of Artesia, Cerritos, and Hawaiian Gardens.
