Residents Protest ICE Deportation Machine in Fullerton: Police Respond in Riot Gear

OCActive was joined by other groups of local citizens including Dare to Struggle (@daretostruggle.socal),  in a peaceful protest that began on the corner of Harbor & Orangethorpe in Fullerton at 10:30 am Sunday, February 9.  The march of about 100 individuals continued to downtown Fullerton and then to city hall at Commonwealth and Highland  – where the group was met with a line of Fullerton Police in riot gear holding zip ties and police on horseback. At one point – seeing the riot gear police presence set off a chant of “F-ck the Police” by some. Bullhorn messages in Spanish ordered the crowd to disperse which they did.

The peaceful demonstrators held signs saying “All Humans are Legal,” “We Stand Together,” “Diversity is Our Strength” and “If You Think You Love Freedom but You Don’t Care If It Applies to Everyone – What You Love is Privilege.” One sign said, “We’re the voices for those who were silenced with fear.” One young protestor said she was there to stand up for her parents who were so brave to come to the US searching for a better life for their kids.
