Saddle Up! The Fullerton Rec Riders Kick Off the 2025 Gymkhana Season
The Fullerton Recreational Riders are gearing up for another thrilling Gymkhana season! But before the races begin, a little elbow grease was in order. On Saturday, February 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., club members and their families saddled up—not on horses, but with cleaning supplies and a tractor—to give the Fullerton Arena a well-deserved spruce-up.
For those new to the herd, the Rec Riders is a 501(c)(7) social club powered entirely by its members. That means if you’re part of the club, you’re also part of the action—whether it’s setting up events, scooping poop (hey, someone’s got to do it!), running timers, or announcing the next big race. Just last fall, the club upgraded the arena with brand-new fencing, proving that when Rec Riders see a need, they rein it in!
A Community Hub for Equestrian Enthusiasts
Nestled in Laguna Lake Park, the Fullerton Equestrian Center is more than just an arena—it’s a cornerstone of the local horse community. While the Rec Riders manage the space, it remains open to the public for equestrian fun during daylight hours. Throughout the Gymkhana Season, the club hosts education meetings open to the public on the 3rd Tuesday of May through November.
If you’re ready to put your riding skills to the test, keep an eye out for the club’s Gymkhana events, which are open to riders of all levels. Never heard of Gymkhana. Think high-speed obstacle racing on horseback, where trust, agility, and precision make all the difference. A great rider-horse partnership isn’t just about speed—it’s about communication, control, and a little daring confidence.
Not ready to giddy up? Bring your friends and family to watch the events. Shows are run on the 2nd Saturday of the Month (weather permitting): March 8, April 12, May 10, June 14, July 12, August 9, and September 13. The Ride of Colors and the National Anthem begin at 9:00 a.m. The first rider starts immediately thereafter.
