A bipartisan group of state lawmakers, city officials, and a patient advocate will join the League of California Cities for a news conference calling for increased oversight and transparency over sober living and treatment facilities to protect residents and hold bad actors accountable.
The news conference will feature two state lawmakers authoring legislation seeking to reform alcohol and drug treatment facilities. City officials will also share their experiences when these unlicensed and unregulated facilities operate in their communities, and a patient advocate with lived experience in a treatment facility will provide her perspective on the need for reform.
