Last fall, a woman facing eviction turned to 211 for assistance. Balancing nursing school with raising four children, she relied on income from driving for Uber while utilizing CalWorks and SNAP benefits to make ends meet in her one-bedroom apartment.

Despite her efforts, she received a 3-day notice to pay or quit, putting her at risk of homelessness. Pathways of Hope intervened through their Homelessness Prevention and Stabilization Program (HPSP), providing support for her overdue rent and ongoing housing assistance, which allowed her to continue her education without the fear of losing her home.

After months of hard work, she passed all her nursing classes in June, a significant step toward securing new job opportunities and achieving financial stability. Now housed and optimistic, she is searching for employment in her new field and is working with her case manager to plan for a larger apartment for her family while also managing her mental health. Thanks to community support, she was able to remain in her home and pursue her goals.
