Re-imagining Fullerton

Rendering of Harbor Boulevard with a two way protected bicycle path on one side of Harbor Blvd to subdue traffic speeds. The bike path is on the West side taking up one lane. The East side of Harbor Blvd still has two lanes. One lane could be dedicated to emergency vehicles to slow traffic on Harbor Blvd. even more.

Imagine a revitalized Fullerton, where the hundreds of thousands of trees that were removed over the years are restored to their former glory. Picture a city where cycling is not only safe but encouraged, and downtown bustles with slower traffic, outdoor dining, live music, and vibrant retail shopping — a stark contrast to the current landscape of vacant office spaces and technology-driven businesses.

As the community turns its gaze toward the future, residents are encouraged to share their visions for what Fullerton could become. A survey has been launched to gather input on the city’s future, asking the community to reflect on various aspects that make a town memorable and appealing.

What elements do you believe should define a revitalized Fullerton? Whether it’s the incorporation of favorite experiences from your travels or community activities that inspire a sense of belonging, your insights are crucial. The survey seeks to address queries such as:

– What types of businesses would enrich downtown Fullerton’s appeal?
– Which bicycle safety measures are essential, and where should they be implemented to protect cyclists?
– In what ways can streets be transformed into vibrant open spaces for outdoor dining and entertainment?

The community is also urged to explore how to rectify the long-standing imbalance in tree removal and planting, which has spanned decades. As the city grapples with its identity, residents are invited to reflect on their favorite local spots, the places they take guests, and the activities that bring families, teens, young adults, and seniors together.

The survey also highlights the importance of inclusivity, asking what adaptations can be made to ensure participation for individuals with diverse needs.

Beyond community engagement, the survey seeks input on urgent social issues, such as addressing homelessness and raising funds for necessary improvements to city infrastructure, specifically the roads.

As Fullerton stands at a crossroads, residents are called upon to share what they find unique and memorable about their city. By doing so, they can help shape a future that not only honors the past but embraces a new vision for all who call Fullerton home.

Residents interested in participating can access the survey through this link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScF4FCPgFd3l3WatMXZErG-kvQ3e5yiHFQPc71Xc7NWOEjGhA/viewform?usp=header, scan the provided QR code, or send their responses to PO Box 7051, Fullerton, CA 92834. Your voice matters in crafting the future of Fullerton.

  1. In the hit run article, mention is made of the car model which implies photos taken. Did the cameras also capture the plate? If not, cameras should be placed to do this.
If video, then they can be scanned. If an accident is reported, should alert image storage of that so the material can be retrieved /archived.
