From left to right: League of Women Voters President, Gerri McNenny, founder and director of Camino Immigration Services, Bethany Anderson, Professor of Sociology and American Studies and Ethnicity and Associate Director of USC Equity Research Institute, Jody Vallejo, and Adjunct professor, educator, and speaker on human trafficking, gender and child rights, Fullerton School District Trustee, Ruthi Hanchett.
The League of Women Voters North Orange County invited Bethany Anderson and Jody Vallejo, PhD. to speak about Immigration, civil rights, and community action on September 27, 2025. Both speakers were introduced by Fullerton Joint Union High School District Trustee Joanne Fawley. Fullerton School District Trustee Ruthi Hanchett was also asked to speak impromptu. The following videos were not edited in anyway per League of Women Voters NOC bylaws. The separation of videos is due to the camera shutting off and having to be manually turned back on (30 seconds).
Trustee Hanchett wishes to make the correction to her remarks, to clarify that while FSD does not hire undocumented employees, they do legally employ staff who are not US citizens but have legal permission to work. Additionally many staff, like FSD students, have family and household members who are undocumented and impacted by immigration changes.

This was a terrific presentation. I wish the power-point that went along with it could be printed.
Wonderful presentation and questions from the audience. Thank you for sharing with the community. A link to these slides would be really helpful to those of us watching online. Thanks!
Ed Response: You are right- we have asked and as soon as they get it to us we will post it.
Update: They are so busy they have not yet sent the slide presentation. However those wishing to see it in person are invited to the Saturday, October 25 presentation they will be giving at the Fullerton Community Center (340 W Commonwealth) Indivisible meeting. The free event starts at 11am.
Meanwhile check out this very interesting study by one of the presenters for USC.
