A community protest is set to take place outside the Placentia Police Department on February 6 at 10:30 am, coinciding with a school walkout organized by students from El Dorado and Valencia High Schools. The rally aims to amplify voices opposing both Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and a recent resolution introduced by school board member Leandra Blades, which many deem inappropriate and insensitive.
The protest is being organized in response to the January 26th wrongful detention of an El Dorado student by ICE agents. The student, who wishes to remain anonymous, was reportedly stopped under the pretext of a minor bike infraction. After it was revealed that he was a U.S. citizen, ICE allegedly called in a gang unit to investigate him further. The authorities confiscated his phone and backpack during the incident, and he has since been unable to recover personal footage stored on his phone.
In the wake of this incident, Blades introduced a resolution titled “Support of Law Enforcement, Public Safety, and Federal Immigration Officers.” This resolution has sparked anger among students and community members, who believe it contradicts the district’s values of safety and respect for all students in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD). Critics argue that it trivializes the distressing experience faced by the detained student and disregards the broader issues surrounding ICE’s actions across the country.
The concise message driving the protest is clear: “Abolish ICE and keep ICE out of PYLUSD.” Organizers are calling on community members and students alike to stand in solidarity with national protests against ICE, emphasizing the need to protect vulnerable members of the community.
As the day approaches, anticipation builds within the community as residents and students prepare to voice their concerns and demand accountability from local leadership.

The kids are showing the way. So proud of them. None of us want to live in the world this administration is developing. All of us should follow the kids and get out on the streets in opposition of what is happening. I hope some of these brave young people will come to Fullerton City Hall too. There is a meeting at 5:30pm Tuesday, February 3 where Fullerton Police Chief will explain a recent incident where police appeared to help ICE in a raid at an apartment building.
You are proud of kids blocking streets and causing havoc to people simply driving down the street?
You are proud of these minors taking away my right to drive down a street?
You are proud of these kids walking out of class and wasting our tax dollars, vs protesting after school hours?
You want this kind of actions and judgement to be the future of our country?
What is wrong with you?
Cindy – I can’t believe you read the reason the kids are protesting. Yes I am very proud of them for standing up against illegal actions by ICE even towards innocent young students and standing up against a school board majority that seems to be backing those wrong actions instead of supporting students. That’s outrageous. These are people’s lives and constitutional rights being violated – laughable and sad that you center everything on your “right” to drive down the street.
Absolutely. Saw a young lady, Hispanic, on the street today with a sign that said it’s not a crime to be brown. Heartbreaking that federal policy is making her feel attacked and unwelcome in her own country
Unacceptable. And she’s absolutely right, because that’s what these bigoted policies are doing. I’m disgusted with this administration and I’m disgusted with people like you that oppose her freedom of assembly. Even when it extends to civil disobedience! It’s that important that we treat people as fully human and of fundamental worth. Which means respecting civil rights.
You need to be uncomfortable. You need to be confronted until you get it.
There is no requirement in the law for a mass deportation effort, racial profiling, arresting people without probable cause or warrants. All of this is policy of choice and it is harming individuals and our country.
The future of our country is this abuse ending.
Just like there was no reason why a former president would open borders and allow millions of illegal immigrants into the USA . What most protesters don’t want to hear is the difference between LEGAL immigrants that are here legally and filed proper documents to be Americans Citizens .
ILLEGAL immigrants is just that Illegally entered our USA.
**Built in intentionally to destroy America
Chaos caused by the former president. WE American Citizens did not vote for this, knowing the all around impact It would have on our country , our people . AMERICA FIRST!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
ED Response: Linda, Ask yourself – How do people become US citizens? How long does it take? What is involved? Why is a masked, heavily armed group of untrained people breaking into cars and homes, beating people up, killing some, etc? Can that be the US you really want?
“Just like there was no reason why a former president would open borders and allow millions of illegal immigrants into the USA ”
Yeah Linda, no one did that. If they are allowed in, they aren’t illegal. The border was “open” under Biden. It is “open” under trump. If it was “closed” no people or goods would be allowed across.
You are using the phrase “open border” incorrectly. A completely open border is what we have between California and Nevada. People can come and go, it is not patrolled, goods are not inspected as they cross.
What he have with Mexico is called a controlled border. It is policed, people are not allowed to simply come and go, goods are inspected, etc.
I can only guess that your problem is asylum claims. Administrations have discretion to allow people who present themselves at the border in to press an asylum or other claim to be here. These people are not illegal aliens. They were allowed in to press a claim. They may lose but they get due process.
The difference between Biden and Trump at the border is that matter of discretion. Trump seems to be allowing almost no one to press an asylum claim. Biden deported many people at the border, but allowed more to press a claim.
Beyond the border, Trump is regularly cancelling people’s status under virtually any pretense in a racist/bigoted mass deportation effort. He actively seeks to MAKE people illegal. And they are going house to house and mall to mall trawling for people to detain and eject.
“**Built in intentionally to destroy America

What chaos? People pursuing an asylum claim is orderly, due process under our laws. Why do you look at asylum seekers, visa overstays, undocumented persons, etc. and think “chaos!” Why?
I look at ICE and think chaos because they are abusive, harming, killing, imprisoning people, destroying lives. You don’t get to blame your chaos on the rest of America. YOU are responsible for this, as you voted for this chaos, you support it.
I agree Cindy – what is wrong with the school district and their parents.??!!
What if the worst happened? It only one takes one ? You idiots would have a big law suit on your hands!! inciters!!
