Hundreds of students from Fullerton High School took to the streets on February 6, marching down Lemon Avenue to Chapman Avenue, then Chapman Avenue to Harbor Boulevard, and Berkley Avenue in a powerful protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Some students continued south on Harbor, then west on Commonwealth to City Hall, and then circled around the Hall and dispersed. (See video below.) The demonstration, organized by students, aimed to raise awareness about immigration issues affecting their community.
As the students crossed major intersections, local police and school staff ensured the participants’ safety. The march reflected a growing sentiment among young activists who are increasingly vocal about social justice issues. Participants carried signs and chanted slogans, expressing their solidarity with immigrant families and calling for policy changes.

I saw the video on the paper’s Facebook site. Wow – really inspiring.
For anyone who’s going to come here to complain about them “ditching school”, this protest took place during the class period before lunch and lasted through their lunch break. Almost everyone was back on campus after lunch, so they really only missed one class.
I don’t see how this helps at all. Most of the students don’t understand what they’re doing and why.
It does have similarities to history though with large movements by adults meant to use young people as a tool such as the Hitler Youth in the 30s and 40s. Adults manipulating young people toward strong political beliefs such as demonizing ICE because they believe it is a moral issue, such as protecting families or standing up to unfair treatment. Young people feel a sense of belonging and shared purpose when they walk out of school or march together. Adults support or allow the activity because they see it as good for the young people while it supports the adults beliefs.
You have no basis to assume manipulation. But you assume it anyway.
There is no similarity of these grassroots protests to the “Hitler youth”
ICE behavior is vicious. We are all seeing the videos.
