The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has announced that it is accepting applications for the Assembly Bill (AB) 32 Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC) for the term 2026-2029. The deadline to apply is 5:00 pm on April 21, 2026.
The EJAC was established under California’s Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32) to provide guidance to CARB in developing its Scoping Plan and related initiatives. Following the Board’s approval of an ongoing committee in March 2023, CARB is now looking for 11 new members.
Eligible applicants include current EJAC members, representatives from community-based organizations, California Native American Tribes, industry-related organizations, labor representatives, non-profit organizations, and educational entities from various regions in California. New members will serve a 36-month term starting from their appointment date.
CARB will prioritize candidates based on the following criteria:
- – Representation from communities experiencing high levels of air pollution, particularly minority and low-income populations.
- – Geographic diversity, focusing on underrepresented communities.
- – Experience in environmental justice or community engagement.
- – Expertise in sectors relevant to AB 32.
The application process will be open for 60 days, and all forms must be fully completed with the necessary documentation. The agency will not entertain questions on the application process to maintain fairness and transparency. For further details, applicants are advised to consult the EJAC Membership Guide included in the Application Form.
Any technical issues on the application should be sent to EJACMeetings@arb.ca.gov.
