The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is reminding the public that it will be conducting a statewide Shoulder Tap Decoy Operation on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in conjunction with California law enforcement agencies.
The operation aims to reduce youth access to alcohol and send a clear message that adults should not purchase or supply alcohol to persons under the age of 21.
This collaborative effort between ABC and local law enforcement agencies highlights the importance of community responsibility in preventing youth access to alcohol. With 58 local law enforcement agencies participating, this is the largest statewide shoulder tap operation ABC has run since 2019.
Media representatives interested in covering the operation may contact ABC to schedule interviews with representatives from ABC and/or local law enforcement partners. For details on the operation or to arrange interviews, please reach out directly to Devin Blankenship at pio@abc.ca.gov.
