The spirit of St. Patrick’s Day came alive on March 15 at the Fullerton Elks Lodge, where members hosted a festive lunch for children with special needs and their families. Elks volunteers transformed the lodge with creative holiday-themed decorations. Members dressed in festive costumes—some as leprechauns and others in green and gold. There was dancing to 1950’s music.

The event is part of the Elks’ Special Child Program, which was launched in 1985. The program provides exclusive gatherings for children with special needs and their families several times a year. These activities are made possible through donations and volunteer support from lodge members.

Organizers say the goal is simple: create a welcoming space where children and their families can relax, celebrate, and feel part of the Elks family.

“Events like this bring everyone together,” one volunteer said. “It’s about making sure every child has a chance to celebrate and enjoy the day.”

For many families, the St. Patrick’s Day celebration has become a cherished tradition—one where community spirit, generosity, and a bit of Irish luck come together to create lasting memories.
