The City Council is set to ratify the purchase of network infrastructure equipment to support essential operations within the Fire Department. The total purchase cost is $109,138, funded by the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Adopted Budget under the Information Technology Fund (Fund 68).
The Fire Department relies on this network infrastructure for key communication and operational systems across six fire stations. It includes wireless connectivity and access to dispatch systems. The current equipment has reached the end of its life, leading to limited manufacturer support and increased reliability issues.
In late 2025, staff identified failures in the existing equipment, necessitating the temporary use of outdated components. This solution was merely short-term, raising concerns about service disruptions and cybersecurity compliance.
Funding for the replacement equipment was included in the Fire Network Upgrades project within the IT Fund. Following informal bid procedures, staff selected Glass Box, an authorized reseller, as the lowest responsive bidder among multiple vendor quotes.
City staff is requesting the Council’s approval to ratify the procurement of the new network equipment, which is essential for maintaining uninterrupted connectivity and effective emergency response operations.
