The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has announced the launch of a new animated series titled Know Your Rights University, aimed at making civil rights and civil liberties engaging for both children and adults.

In the inaugural episode, viewers enter Eastman-Baldwin Junior High—named after two of the ACLU’s founders—and follow students Lisa and Aaron as they learn about their rights. The story highlights the landmark case of Tinker v. Des Moines, where students fought for their right to free speech, ultimately prevailing all the way to the Supreme Court.

The series features Mr. Charles, a history teacher voiced by ACLU staff member and series creator Brandon Lake, who guides the characters through their exploration of constitutional rights in an educational and entertaining format.

Know Your Rights University is designed to serve as both a resource for individuals looking to understand their rights and a tool for parents wanting to teach their children about civil liberties. The ACLU encourages families to gather around and tune in to what promises to be an enlightening experience.
