A tragic traffic collision late Tuesday night claimed the life of a female driver in Fullerton. The incident occurred around 11:34 pm on April 30, when police officers responded to reports of a vehicle that had struck a power pole near the intersection of S. Raymond Ave. and E. Orangethorpe Ave.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a silver Honda Civic that had collided with a power pole on the west side of S. Raymond Ave., south of Kimberly Ave. Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was traveling southbound in the number one lane when it veered westward, hitting a curb, a fire hydrant, and ultimately the power pole.
Emergency responders from the Fullerton Fire Department pronounced the solo adult female occupant dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity, which will be confirmed by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
While investigators have noted that speed may have played a role in the collision, it remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs were contributing factors. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is ongoing.
The Fullerton Police Department is urging anyone with information about the collision to contact Accident Investigator J. Manes at (714) 738-6815 or via email at jmanes@fullertonpd.org.
