A vigil is set to take place on Saturday, July 25, from 7:30 to 8:30 pm PDT at the intersection of Imperial Highway and South Brea Boulevard. The event is organized to honor Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Guerrero, both of whom were killed by ICE agents in recent incidents.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot dead on July 7 in Houston while driving a work van with his crew. Just days later, on July 13, 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero was fatally shot in Biddeford, Maine, in a tragic incident witnessed by his wife and young child. Both individuals were valued members of their communities, tragically gunned down while heading to work.

The vigil aims to shed light on these events and call for justice, reflecting the rallying cry, “Justice for Lorenzo, Justice for Johan, Justice for All. ICE Out.”

Organizers emphasize a commitment to nonviolent action, encouraging participants to de-escalate potential confrontations and adhere to lawful conduct throughout the event. Weapons of any kind will be strictly prohibited.

The vigil is part of a broader initiative titled “Disappeared In America,” which is supported by various organizations including Public Citizen, the National Day Laborers Organizing Network (NDLON), The Workers Circle, the Detention Watch Network, and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

As the community gathers to remember the victims and advocate for justice, the impact of these incidents continues to resonate deeply within the affected communities.
