Indivisible CA45 joined other Indivisible groups across the nation on Saturday, July 25, to honor Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero, beloved community members whose lives were cut short by ICE agents. We gathered to mourn their deaths and to insist that no government agency is above accountability. May we have the courage to seek justice and build a country where every family can live without fear. Prayers were offered by Rev. Noel Anderson of Church World Service and Amiah Adamiak, intern minister at Live Oak Church.
Participants signed a card to thank Representative Derek Tran of California’s 45th District for his introduction of H.R. 9883, the Private Detention Corporate Accountability Act of 2026, to hold privately-owned detention centers that contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) accountable for any wrongful deaths of a detainee that occur in their facilities or under their care. As well as to thank him for co-sponsoring legislation to support our immigrant neighbors.
